Read the commentary below.

Then answer the questions.

Ask God to grant you (and your family) the supernatural ability to choose joy in every situation.

Then, pray for your individual needs.

After reading Hebrews 12:2, it's clear that Jesus set an example of CHOOSING JOY in the toughest situation. He was looking death face-to-face, knowing that He was about to be executed, but He still knew that there was JOY set before Him.

I think it's safe to say that we will likely never face a situation as terrible as Jesus', so we too must follow His example and choose joy in every situation.

James 1:2-3 even tells us to "count it all joy when we fall into trials." How could this be possible? Are we really supposed to be joyful when we go through tough times?

Simply: YES!

I find it helpful to realize (out of a heart of thankfulness) that there is always someone who has it harder than I do. Let me be clear: I'm not thankful that someone is suffering, but it reminds me that I have no room to complain.

Personally, I've seen amazing individuals in the face of disease, hardships, and even death choose joy over sadness. I look at these people and think "if anyone has the right to complain, it's you!" But time after time, God supernaturally brings joy!

It's not easy, but like forming any other habit or character trait, it becomes easier every time we have the right response to a situation.

"The things you go through do not form your character; the way you respond to those things forms your character"

Choose joy in every situation. Try it this week! When you're late for work, thank God that you have a job. When you're in an argument with someone, stop-take a step back, and focus on their positive qualities instead of their faults.

A joyful life does not just make you more pleasant to those around you, but it increases the freedom of your mind and spirit and leads you closer into the presence of God.
